Glass Facade, Curtain Wall and Shopfront Works
Façade scopes we work on:
- Stick-built and unitised aluminium curtain walls for office and retail buildings (subject to consultant/QP design).
- Frameless glass facades and atrium glazing (laminated tempered build-up).
- Shopfront glazing and full-height entrance facades, including sliding, swing or pivot glass doors.
- Glass canopies and skylights — laminated overhead glass per safety practice.
Cladding, Frameless Glass and Architectural Metal Support
Cladding and support scopes include:
- Aluminium composite panel cladding installation (subject to fire-rating compliance verified by the supplier and authority).
- Stainless steel architectural cladding strips, edge trims and louvres.
- Mullion and transom support sections — aluminium extrusion or steel back-up frames.
- Frameless glass clamps and patch fittings for entrances and stair walls.
Solar Control, Low-E and Laminated Glass Considerations
For tropical Singapore facades, the glass build-up matters more than the frame:
- Low-E coated glass reduces radiant heat transfer; usually applied on surface 2 of an IGU.
- Solar control coated glass further blocks NIR and visible glare for west and south-west facades.
- Laminated outer pane retains glass on breakage — important for high-rise and overhead.
- Heat-soaked tempered reduces NiS spontaneous breakage probability.
Detailed thermal performance values should be verified against project requirements by the consultant or supplier where required.
Access, Sealant, Water Ingress and Maintenance Checks
Façade scopes routinely fail at sealant joints, gaskets and around penetrations rather than at the glass itself. Pre-quotation we discuss:
- Access method for installation and future cleaning (BMU, gondola, MEWP, rope access).
- Sealant grade — structural silicone (e.g. DC 791 / 795) vs weathering silicone, with compatibility to gaskets.
- Drainage paths and pressure-equalised cavities.
- Movement joint sizing for thermal expansion (aluminium ~24×10⁻⁶/°C is roughly 2× steel).
